I have view settings set to show hidden and system files. If I look at the contents after running DBan, I don't see any boot files or any. I ran that on another computer and loaded it to a USB thumb drive. If it can't see it, it can't erase it.Īs for DBan, I downloaded that too. If I formatted the MBR, I t think that may be why HDDErase does not see it at all. Now I suspect that I may have hosed it further. It said the SSD had to have a partition so I partitioned it - an 8Meg NTFS partition. So I initialized it and tried running Intel Toolbox. When I had it in the other host computer, I noticed that every time I boot, it comes up in Disk Manager as not initialized. I tried HDDErase - it runs but it does not see the SSD. When I did manage to run Intel Toolbox, I noted that the serial number is listed as No_CNTX which is indicative of this problem. The SSD does not "know" that it has more space - the 8Meg is the master boot record.įix is to totally restore it to factory condition as suggested above, using HDDErase or DBan, assuming it is not a hardware failure. Digging around the net, I find that the problem is likely that the Master Boot Record is screwed up. Can I just install Win 7 and worry about the firmware update later? Once I have the OS running, I can use the Intel Toolbox to update the firmware - hopefully with more success. I want to update the Intel Firwmare before I install anything. Same problem.Īm I missing something? Anything else I can try ? I also tried setting everything to AHCI mode, using 2 black SATA ports, 2 red SATA ports and one of each both ways. ģ - Enable Legacy mode - To do that I have to set the SATA mode to IDE. I did format it on another machine - NTFS w/ 4K clusters but that's it.Ģ - Enable S.M.A.R.T - I don't see that in my BIOS. Suggested actions are:ġ - Disable Drive Password protection - I never set a drive password. I can boot and the installer runs but no matter what I do in the BIOS, it tells me that the Firmware Update did not complete. I downloaded, burned an ISO image to a CDR. I am trying to update my new Intel X-25M G2 firmware before I do a virgin install of Win 7.
